 Showgirls

In this in progress series, I create custom flip and lenticular prints by photographing my assemblage sculptures and installations. These lenticular prints have a thick plastic coating on the print, called a “lens”, that creates animated or 3D effects when the viewer passes the print. This plastic “lens'“ that is mounted to the print allows me to laser-cut them into common decorative shapes. By also drilling holes into the “lens”, I can adorn the prints with upcycled costume jewelry, trims, thread, and fabrics by sewing and attaching directing through the print surface. Utilizing materials that are often used to embellish or costume a flashy, feminized body, these alluring print-objects blend artifice and excess to present post-consumer waste as glamorous, yet intrinsically tied to human qualities: both to our physical selves as well as to our intangible myths and desires.
